KBC, or Kaun Banega Crorepati, is a popular Indian game show that debuted in 2000. And the first episode was dated 3 July 2000. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is the inspiration for the show. Each question is graded in ascending order of difficulty, and contestants can leave with the money they’ve earned at the end of the round. Participants hope to become millionaires by answering each question correctly. Over 30 million people watch each episode of KBC in India.

Business mogul Ratan Tata was the creator of the show. A leader of India’s largest conglomerates, Tata is chairman of the Tata Group. With questions that were interesting and challenging, but not impossible, the program was intended to be a quiz show for the average person. Upon its debut, the show was an instant hit, with millions tuning in each week to see if their favorite contestant would make it to the final round.

Kaun Banega Crorepati was originally hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Despite stepping down in 2013, he continued hosting for several years after the very first season. Shahrukh Khan temporarily replaced Amitabh Bachchan as host, but he has since returned. There is also stand-up comic Siddharth Jadhav, Manoj Kumar, and Sunil Shetty.

Currently, according to a report from Exchange 4 Media, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) anticipates ad revenues of Rs 400 crore from season 13 of Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.
